  • In-Person Early Voting: Feb. 12 – Feb. 28, 2026 (ends at 3 p.m.)

  • Absentee Ballots Mailed: Beginning Jan. 12, 2026

  • Absentee Ballot Request Deadline: Tue., Feb. 17, 2026 by 5 p.m. (county deadline)

  • Absentee Ballot Return Deadline: Election Day, Mar. 3, 2026 by 7:30 p.m.

  • Voter Registration Deadline: Fri., Feb. 6, 2026 by 5 p.m.

Note: Some counties may have secondary primary (“runoff”) dates if needed later in spring.

🗳️ How to Register to Vote

General Registration

  • You must register at least 25 days before an election.

    • For the March primary: Feb. 6, 2026 (5 p.m.)

    • For the November general: Oct. 9, 2026

🆕 Same-Day Registration

  • North Carolina allows same-day voter registration during the early voting period. You can register and vote at the same time at early voting sites.
